Why doesn’t this end? Why don’t you people at the zoo, who supposedly know about animals take action to relieve Billy’s suffering? This is unforgivable!! Send Billy to an elephant sanctuary so he can be with other elephants and be happy again. It’s what you would want for YOUR life. Give Billy what he wants and needs.

This is a horrible tragedy to keep precious “Billy” isolated in such a small confined space for 30 long horrendous years. This is complete animal abuse at the highest level and the LA zoo should be ashamed of themselves. Elephants are herding animals they need to interact with other elephants, they are very family oriented. Please, please, please….release this precious asian elephant, so he can live out his life in freedom with more lush land to roam and be able to engage with other elephants. Billy needs lots and lots of TLC. I’m praying for your quick release handsome Billy!!

If the intention is to educate people about different species and their habitats and for the continued evolution of the species then zoos, aquariums, etc should have no problem charging reasonable entrance fees to the millions of visitors coming to their establishments year after year. But this is not the case! The only reason animals such as this are kept in these horrid conditions are for greed and selfish reasons and the exuberant prices charged by these places shouldn’t be tolerated by anyone.

These animals deserve freedom to live the life they as wild animals should live or at most, as close to a normal, wild environment for the remainder of their lives. Living in cages or structured areas is not free, nor is it in any way close to the environment in which these animals are accustomed to living. This animal has suffered by being here for much too long at only the benefit of the zoo and the City of Los Angeles (owners), and has more than earned his right to freedom. The Los Angeles Zoo receives close to 1.8 million visitors per year and clearly the zoo and the City of L.A. is using these animals as a means to bring much needed revenue to the city of Los Angeles. This elephant now deserves to be happy, at peace and with others as himself to roam greater territory and forage food in its natural habitat as an elephant was intended to live life. Animals in zoos should be intended to be kept at a minimum of only a short amount of time, if at all. Perhaps for rehabilitation and such cases, but not for extended periods and especially not for years and years. Billy, the elephant is long overdue to go to his forever home and it is up to The Los Angeles Zoo and The City of Los Angeles to decide that it is not only in his best interest, but the most ethical decision that must be made immediately.

This beautiful animal did not ask for this life. He deserves to live the rest of his life in comfort and in the company of other elephants.
